What part of Maui is right for me?
Once you've spent time on Maui you realize how unique the areas and towns of the Island are in both climate and "feeling". The Island of Maui is blessed with trade winds almost daily from the North East direction. These winds bring with them moisture which creates two main distinct sides; the leeward and windward sides. Most of the Resorts and Condominiums lie on the leeward sides of the Island which are both drier and hotter climates. Areas like Wailea, Kihei, Lahaina, and Kapulua offer more sunshine and less clouds which is what many people and tourists want. These areas have more people and more amenities than some other areas of Maui. Each of these towns have a different layout, history and feeling about them.
The Northshore, Upcountry and East sides of Maui collect much more rain but offer a cooler climate and less tourists. These include towns like Kula, Haiku, Makawao, Pukalani, Paia, and Hana. Each of these towns have a different micro- climate and feeling as well and tend to be more rural.
Kahului is centrally located and is the economic heart of Maui. This is the where the Airport, major shopping centers, Maui Community College and the Maui Arts and Cultural Center are. Just up the hill towards the West Maui Mountains lies the Historic Town of Wailuku where the seat of Government resides. Many people choose to live in central Maui for the convenience, proximity to jobs and the Maui Memorial Center Hospital.
All of these different areas of Maui have different attributes that different people are attracted too. Depending on your lifestyle, you may prefer one area over another. It also matters what type of real estate you are interested in. If you want a condo, a home or vacant land, I can help guide you to areas and neighborhoods of Maui that will fit your needs. There are as many different ways to enjoy the Island as there are people. I advise exploring and getting to know all parts of the Island so you can feel what is right for you.
